The Minor in Banking is intended to complement a student's primary major and designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed for success in banking and related financial services industry.

The program will be open to all students, both business or non-business, and will guide students through several fundamental courses to elevate their understanding of bank management and lead to a career path in banking.

Courses and Curriculum

Banking Minor Requirements

  • 21 credits required for minor completion
  • Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester and use to monitor their individual progress toward completion of the minor.

Minor Requirements

Students who complete the program will be able to:
  1. Discuss the importance of financial markets, financial services industry, and regulations.
  2. Describe the role of banks in an economy and basic principles of commercial bank management.
  3. Evaluate risk management techniques as applied to financial and non-financial entities.
  4. Analyze how to implement an integrated enterprise risk management (ERM) program that mitigates risks and maximizes value of the firm.
