Finance (Minor)

The minor in Finance is intended to complement a student's primary major and designed to provide non-finance students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed for success in major areas of finance.

The program will be open to all non-finance students, both business or non-business, and will develop students’ abilities to make managerial and strategic financial decisions and add value to any company or organization.

Students interested in the Finance Minor should consult their advisor for information on course requirements.

Courses and Curriculum

Finance Minor Requirements

  • 21 credits required for minor completion
  • Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester and use to monitor their individual progress toward completion of the minor.

Minor Requirements

Students who complete the program will be able to:
  1. Describe the financial markets and financial investment instruments.
  2. Evaluate a firm's financial health using financial statement analysis.
  3. Value financial instruments and apply the skills in investment decision-making.
  4. Solve capital budgeting issues and apply the results in capital investment decisions.
