The Endless Mountains Writing Project (EMWP) will host its Summer 2025 Educator’s Conference, a two-day professional development event focused on advancing literacy instruction and exploring the role of writing and technology in the classroom.

The conference will be held at ÅÝܽÊÓƵ-Mansfield’s Retan Center on Tuesday, June 24, and Wednesday, June 25.
Day one of the conference, running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 24, will feature nationally recognized educator and author Lesley Roessing. Roessing, the Founding Director of the Coastal Savannah Writing Project at Georgia Southern University, will facilitate an intensive workshop on effective teaching and assessment practices using writing to enhance student comprehension and critical thinking. Roessing is a veteran public school teacher and author of five books for educators, including The Write to Read and Talking Texts.
A picnic will follow Tuesday’s workshop for conference attendees and EMWP alumni to connect and unwind in a relaxed setting.
The conference continues on June 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a seminar-style workshop exploring the integration of artificial intelligence in writing instruction. Educators are encouraged to bring laptops, tablets, and classroom examples to engage in hands-on discussion and collaborative problem-solving. The session will be led by Paul Allison, tech liaison and teacher consultant for the New York City Writing Project. Allison will share insights into the National Writing Project’s innovative AI initiative, WritingPartners, and guide participants through best practices and real-world applications of AI in the classroom.
Registration is free for EMWP Teacher Consultants who have completed the 6-credit EMWP Invitational Summer Institute and for friends of the EMWP. A $50 registration fee applies to other educators, including homeschool and cyber school instructors, who are interested in elevating their literacy teaching practices.
