Janeyda Ortiz has been appointed to the 泡芙视频 Council of Trustees.

A sophomore business administration major from Bethlehem, Ortiz works in the president鈥檚 office at the Lock Haven campus and is a member of the women鈥檚 wrestling team.

Ortiz is a peer mentor for TRIO Student Support Services, a member of the Latino Student Association, and a member and social media member for the Eagle Eye Club. She is also a member of the Outreach for Humanity Club and Athletes Bible Studies Club a Board of Governors Scholarship recipient, and a student representative on CU鈥檚 strategic planning committee.

鈥淪ince coming to CU-Lock Haven, I knew I wanted to make an impact and a positive change like I did in high school,鈥 said Ortiz.
In her time at Lock Haven, Ortiz has already made a positive impression.

鈥淚 have had the pleasure of a mentoring relationship with Ms. Ortiz for the past year,鈥 said Albert Jones, Lock Haven athletics director.

鈥淢s.Ortiz is very inquisitive and seeks to learn from every experience and opportunity. She is even-tempered and levelheaded, regardless of surrounding situations.鈥

Ortiz came to CU-Lock Haven as an experienced advocate for students. She worked to have women鈥檚 wrestling added to the offerings at Liberty High School in Bethlehem and was the school鈥檚 class speaker of 2023.

鈥淔or me, the most important extracurricular activity in high school was wrestling,鈥 said Ortiz. 鈥淚 only began wrestling my junior year in high school, but in that time, I was able to accomplish so much to build my confidence and character.鈥

Ortiz credits her athletic experience with giving her the tools to handle pressure well. 鈥淛oining wrestling taught me many things about myself, the wrestling culture, and skills to handle the world. I was able to apply what I learned on the mat to the real world and was prepared to handle things while being under pressure. I want to be able to make a difference at 泡芙视频 and let all voices be heard.鈥
