Living in Lock Haven

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Susquehanna River and the Bald Eagle Mountain Range, we’re a lush open playground for any outdoor enthusiast. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, biking, and distance running are just a few of the pursuits in which you could thrive. Once snow begins to fall, let’s retreat to local ski resorts to enjoy our favorite winter activities … snowtubing anyone?
Take an easy walk, or a quick trolley ride and find yourself downtown, which has been experiencing record growth. This historic district that dates to the late 19th century features unique stores, coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, and diners (like the Texas Lunch with their yummy Texas Growlers, a local favorite for decades).
Enjoy events like the pedestrian mall, concerts on the river and a farmer’s market. Settle in at the Roxy, a first-run movie theatre. Many downtown shops and restaurants are pleased to offer discounts to Lock Haven students.

Head Downtown
Just a short stroll from campus along the scenic river walk, our vibrant downtown awaits—with delicious dining, unique boutiques, cozy coffee shops, and more. Don’t miss lively community events like the Regatta and the Jams & Arts Fest!

Embark on an Adventure
Surrounded by scenic rivers and picturesque mountains, Lock Haven’s campus is a gateway to outdoor adventure. Students kayak and fish in the Susquehanna River, explore four nearby state parks, and hike Hyner Mountain for breathtaking views. Plus, we’re just a short drive from the vibrant cities of Williamsport and State College.
